5. Three Example Conversations / 会話例3パターン

Conversation 1: Office Job Interview — Customer Support Role

SarahThanks for coming in today. Can you start by telling me about your experience?
YouSure, I'd be happy to. I have three years of experience in customer support. I worked at a software company, where I mainly handled email and phone inquiries from customers.
SarahWhat kinds of issues did you handle?
YouMostly account problems, billing questions, and technical issues. I usually tried to solve the problem in the first call if possible.
SarahThat sounds good. Did you work with any tools or systems?
YouYes, I used a CRM system to track customer cases. I also helped update our FAQ page when we noticed customers asking the same questions often.
SarahGreat. What do you think you learned most from that job?
YouI think the biggest thing was staying calm under pressure. Sometimes customers were very frustrated, so I had to listen carefully and respond clearly without getting stressed.

Conversation 2: Networking Event — New Professional Contact

KenjiSo, what do you do? What kind of work have you been in?
YouI've been in digital marketing for about four years. I mostly worked on social media and content strategy.
KenjiOh nice, what kind of content? B2B or consumer stuff?
YouMostly B2C — fashion and lifestyle brands. I managed the Instagram and blog content for a couple of different companies.
KenjiThat sounds fun. Did you do any paid advertising, or was it mostly organic?
YouIt was a mix, actually. I ran some paid campaigns on Instagram and Facebook, but most of my focus was on building organic engagement — things like brand storytelling and working with small influencers.
KenjiCool. What's the most useful thing you picked up from all that?
YouProbably learning to write simply. You'd be surprised how many brands write in a way that's too complicated. Once I started making the copy shorter and clearer, the engagement really went up.

Conversation 3: First Day at a New Company — Meeting a New Colleague

EmmaOh hey! You must be the new person on the team. I'm Emma — I work in the sales department.
YouHi Emma! Yes, I just started today. I'm in the operations team. I'm really happy to be here.
EmmaWelcome! So, what did you do before this? Was this a big change for you?
YouA bit, yeah. I was working in logistics for about two years — managing delivery schedules and coordinating with suppliers. Same industry, but more on the ground level.
EmmaOh interesting! So you already know how this kind of business works.
YouExactly. I think that's why I was excited about this role. I've seen the operations side and now I want to understand the bigger picture — planning and process improvement.
EmmaThat makes sense. I think you'll fit in well here. The team loves people who understand how things actually work.
YouThat's great to hear. I'm looking forward to learning how things run here and hopefully contributing pretty quickly.

6. Naturalness Tips / 自然な答え方のコツ

✅ Natural (sounds like a person talking): "My main job was handling customer inquiries — usually by email or phone. When I had some extra time, I also helped keep our customer database up to date."

7. What to Avoid / 避けること

Mistake 1: Telling your whole life story / 人生の全部を話してしまう

✅ "I have three years of experience in customer support, most recently at a software company."
Mistake 2: Being too vague / 曖昧すぎる答え

❌ "I have experience in many different areas. I've worked in a few companies. I did various kinds of work."
✅ "I have four years of experience in accounting. I worked at a mid-sized manufacturing company, where I handled accounts payable and monthly reporting."
Mistake 3: Only talking about duties, not results / 業務内容だけで成果を話さない

❌ "I worked in customer service. I answered phones and emails every day."
✅ "I worked in customer service. I answered phones and emails, and over time I developed strong communication skills. I also learned how to stay calm when customers were upset."
