Section 1 — When and why greetings matter
セクション1 — いつ、なぜ使うのか
▼
- A greeting is a short expression that shows you are friendly and polite. あいさつは、友好的で礼儀正しいことを示す短い表現です。
- You will use greetings every day in five common situations: meeting first time, starting meetings/class, seeing friends after long time, entering shops, and starting calls. 5つの日常的な場面(初対面、会議/授業の開始、久しぶりの再会、お店への入店、通話の開始)で毎日使います。
- A good greeting builds confidence, makes a great first impression, and is the fastest way to feel comfortable speaking. 上手なあいさつは自信を生み、良い第一印象を与え、英語を話すことに慣れるための最も早い方法です。
📌
Section 2 — Core Language Pattern
セクション2 — 基本の言語パターン

- Pattern: ① Opening word + ② Time greeting + ③ Follow-up phrase. パターン:①開始の言葉 + ②時間帯のあいさつ + ③フォローアップの言葉。
- Example: "Hi. Good morning. How are you?" 例:「Hi. Good morning. How are you?」
- Tip: Match the situation. A casual coffee with a friend needs different phrases than a job interview. コツ:場面に合わせましょう。友人とのカジュアルなコーヒーと就職面接では使う表現が異なります。

- Follow-up & Replies: "How are you?" / "I'm good, thank you." and "Nice to meet you." / "Nice to meet you too." フォローアップと返答:「How are you?」/「I'm good, thank you.」や「Nice to meet you.」/「Nice to meet you too.」など。
📌

セクション4 — 場面別の便利フレーズ
▼
- Starting the conversation: "Hi! How are you?" / "Good morning! How's your day going?" 会話を始める:「Hi! How are you?」/「Good morning! How's your day going?」
- Responding: "I'm great, thanks! And you?" / "Doing well, thanks for asking." あいさつに返す:「I'm great, thanks! And you?」/「Doing well, thanks for asking。」

Section 5 — Three Example Conversations
セクション5 — 例文会話
▼
- Conversation 1 (Café with stranger): Sit next to Sarah → Say hello and introduce yourself → "Nice to meet you!" 会話1(カフェで初対面):サラの隣に座る → あいさつと自己紹介 → 「Nice to meet you!」
- Conversation 2 (Office on Monday): David asks about weekend → "Morning, David! It was really good, thanks. I went hiking..." 会話2(月曜朝のオフィス):デイビッドが週末について尋ねる → 「Morning, David! It was really good, thanks. I went hiking...」
- Conversation 3 (Community Event): Good evening to Mr. Tanaka → Introduce yourself by house number → "Are you enjoying the event?" 会話3(地域のイベント):田中さんにこんばんは → 番地を伝えて自己紹介 → 「Are you enjoying the event?」
📌
Section 6 — Naturalness Tips
セクション6 — 自然に聞こえるコツ
▼
- Spoken contractions (e.g., "I'm" instead of "I am") sound much more natural in everyday speech. 短縮形(「I am」の代わりに「I'm」など)を使うと、話し言葉として圧倒的に自然に聞こえます。
- "How are you doing?" sounds more fluid and friendly than the static "How are you." 「How are you doing?」は、定番の「How are you.」よりも流暢でフレンドリーに聞こえます。
- Extend short answers using: Answer + Reason/Detail + Return question (e.g., "I'm really good, thanks! I just had a great weekend. How about you?"). 短い返答を「返答 + 理由/詳細 + 質問を返す」パターンで広げます(例:「I'm really good, thanks! I just had a great weekend. How about you?」)。
📌
Section 7 — Five Mistakes to Avoid
セクション7 — 避けたほうがいい5つの間違い
▼
- Avoid saying "I am fine, thank you, and you?" like a script. It sounds robotic. 「I am fine, thank you, and you?」を台本のように言うのはロボットみたいで不自然なので避けましょう。
- Never forget to return the question. Always bounce it back to keep the conversation going. 質問を返すのを忘れないこと。会話を続けるために必ず相手に聞き返します。
- Don't say "Nice to meet you" to someone you already know. Use "Good to see you again!" instead. すでに知っている人に「Nice to meet you」と言わないこと。代わりに「Good to see you again!」を使います。
- Speak clearly with eye contact and a smile. Non-verbal signals are key in English-speaking cultures. ぼそぼそ話さず、アイコンタクトと笑顔を意識します。非言語コミュニケーションも大切な要素です。
- Do not translate Japanese keigo literally. Simple and warm is better than over-formal English. 日本語の敬語を直訳しないこと。フォーマルな場面でも、英語はシンプルで温かみのある表現が好まれます。
📌
