  • Get attention politely — "Excuse me,"

    目的地への行き方を「Could you tell me...（〜を教えていただけますか）」の形で分かりやすく伝えます。

Linguistic Nuance · 細かなニュアンスの解説

Why "could you" is better than "can you":
"Can you tell me...?" sounds a little too direct (少しぶしつけ、または上から目線に聞こえることがあります)。
"Could you tell me...?" is tentative, making it sound polite, soft, and highly respectful. It is the perfect industry standard when talking to strangers (見知らぬ人に街中で話しかけるのに最も適した響きです)。
