  • Tip 1: Add a reason or context
    ❌ "What is the deadline?"
✅ "I want to plan my week — when is this due?"
  • Tip 2: Use "just" to soften a question
✅ "I just wanted to check — is this the right file?"
  • Tip 3: Show what you understood first
✅ "So we need to send the report by Friday — but I wasn't sure about the format. Could you clarify that?"
  • Tip 4: Rising intonation for yes/no questions
✅ "Is this due on Friday?↑"

6. Common Mistakes to Avoid /

Mistake 1: Being too vague

❌ What about this?
✅ Could you explain this part again? I wasn't sure about the second step.
Mistake 2: Sounding like you are blaming someone

❌ Why did you do it this way?
✅ Could you help me understand why this approach was chosen?
Mistake 3: Asking too many questions at once

✅ Ask one question at a time. Start with the most important one.
Mistake 4: Forgetting to say thank you

✅ Thank you so much. That really helps. / I appreciate your time.
Mistake 5: Apologizing too much

❌ I'm so sorry. I'm really sorry. Sorry…
✅ Sorry to bother you, but I have a quick question.
