Section 1: Introduction / はじめに

Talking about your daily routine is one of the most common topics in everyday English conversation. You will use it in self-introductions, small talk with friends, job interviews, and language exchanges — it comes up again and again.

The good news is: you do not need complicated grammar or a huge vocabulary. A simple structure — morning, day, evening — and a few natural phrases are enough to describe your day clearly.

毎日の習慣について話すのは、日常英会話で最もよく出てくる話題の一つです。自己紹介、友人との雑談、就職面接、言語交換など、さまざまな場面で使います。複雑な文法や難しい単語は必要ありません。「朝・日中・夜」というシンプルな構成といくつかの自然なフレーズがあれば、自分の一日をしっかり伝えられます。

When will you use this? / いつ使う場面があるの?

Here are 5 real situations where you will need to talk about your daily routine:

  1. Self-introductions: When you meet someone new, they often ask "What do you usually do?" or "What does your day look like?"
    自己紹介で、初めて会う人によく聞かれる質問です。
  2. At work: A colleague or manager may ask about your schedule or how you start your day.
    職場で、同僚や上司にスケジュールを聞かれることがあります。

2. Core Language Pattern / 基本の型

A clear daily-routine answer has three main time blocks. Use this simple structure every time:

  1. Say when your day startsI wake up at [time].
  2. Describe morning, day, eveningIn the morning, I... During the day, I... In the evening, I...
  3. Say when you go to bedI go to bed at [time].

The Template / テンプレート

I wake up at [time].
In the morning, I [activity]. During the day, I [activity]. In the evening, I [activity].
I go to bed at [time].

1. まず起床時間を伝える。「I wake up at [時間]」で一日の始まりを示します。
2. 朝・日中・夜の活動を説明する。全部言う必要はなく、2〜3パートで十分自然です。
3. 就寝時間で締めくくる。「I go to bed at [時間]」でスマートに終われます。

You do not need all five parts every time / 毎回5つ全部言う必要はない

The full template has five parts: wake-up time, morning, daytime, evening, and bed time. But a natural answer only needs two or three of them — pick the parts that matter most.

フルテンプレートは起床・朝・日中・夜・就寝の5パートですが、自然な会話では2〜3パートで十分です。伝えたい部分だけを選びましょう。
